Europe + Baby is totally doable!

Traveling to Europe with a baby? Here are some travel tips:

-Take the latest flight that you can, closest to your LO’s bed time.

-We give our daughter Benadryl. It’s not for everyone, but it works for us. Flights are entirely over-stimulating for her. The first time we didn’t give her any and she stayed up ALL NIGHT until an hour before we landed in London. We also give her Benadryl the second night, once we’re there. It help set her up better for the time change.

-Renting a car? Rent the car seat, too. For us, it’s not worth it to lug the heavy seat when you’re trying to manage luggage and a stroller with the baby.

-Bring a lightweight stroller (we have the Peg Perego Mini Pliko) and a stroller bag. When you leave the stroller at the gate in the bag, you can throw other items in there that you don’t want to carry with you on the plane doesn’t fit in your luggage (winter coat, blanket, etc.).

-Visit the bakery! We found we could occupy the baby for a long period of time by giving her a hard roll to chew on. It kept her happy and quiet for hours.

-If you’re traveling with a lap baby, upgrade if you can. This makes an enormous difference. Most airlines have an option to upgrade with miles. We no longer save our miles for free tickets. We buy coach and use the miles to upgrade.

-Get the Okkatots Travel Depot Backpack. It is amazing! It has a ton of accessible compartments and even has a diaper dispenser than can hold 12-15 diapers. No digging in the bottom of your bag, has a changing pad and even an outside compartment for a dvd player or tablet.
